National Small Business Week runs from April 29th through May 5th this year. Throughout the country, you can find events that will promote small businesses and enhance them. For example, Oakland has a myriad of events that range in topic from contracting to small business ecosystems. There are over 100 and they are a true representation of Oakland in its diversity and culture.

In honor of National Small Business Week, I want to give a shout out and thank you to Main Street Launch for helping me along my Freedom Makers journey. As a small business owner, I have had the ups and downs that many small business owners have experienced. In trying to obtain loans, I was turned down from the larger financial institutions. I am not going to lie; it was discouraging. It was not until I found Veteran Launch, a program from Main Street Launch that I truly felt heard and supported. Their goal is empower small businesses through expansion, increasing profits and helping them to reach their goals.
“We believe in the power of entrepreneurship to transform lives and communities.”

When I reached out to Mike at Main Street Launch, he understood my business and better yet he believed in it. Since receiving help from them, Freedom Makers has been able to get out of debt and we have grown by 80% in one quarter!

I cannot thank them enough for believing in us. I am proud to be a part of the Main Street Launch family. It is no surprise that they are presenting partner for the Oakland National Small Business Week. I encourage you to do some research and see what is happening this week in your area for #SmallBusinessWeek. There are resources and organizations out there to help you!

Listen to my heartfelt thanks in my latest Facebook Live.
