Support & Shop Small

By Jenny Boyles • Nov 25, 2019

As a small business owner, you know first hand the struggles every small business owner faces. Because of that it’s very important to support each other. Doing so not only promotes small business, but it also fosters community.

One of the best things to happen to small business ironically was created by power house American Express. Small Business Saturday was created out of the recession in 2010. Its goal was to encourage people to Shop Small and bring people to smaller businesses for their holiday shopping.

American Express offers a whole website dedicated to how businesses can best participate in the Small Business Saturday movement. If you are a small business and the holidays take a toll on your business for the positive or the negative, it is best to pay it forward to other small businesses in your community. It not only creates goodwill amongst small business owners, but it boosts another’s business which is always a good thing. And the hope is that even if you are an accountant who does not have a unique service for the holiday that those you bolster will return the favor in the future. Building mutual small business relationships is important within communities.

For more ways to support small business, visit Pay It Forward: Support & Build Up Other Small Businesses. We encourage you to Shop Small this Saturday, November 30th and help the small businesses in your community succeed this holiday season!
