2020: The Freedom Maker Highlight Reel

big fireworks

There is no doubt that 2020 will go down in the record books as one of the strangest, hardest, and frustrating years in history. The COVID-19 pandemic brought about challenges our country has never seen before.

Despite the challenges that 2020 brought, we, at Freedom Makers, have much for which to be thankful. We experienced growth in our company and were able to assist many new clients with remote work. Check out some of our accomplishments and our goals to take us into 2021!!!

Mentoring Program

Early in the year, we wanted to offer assistance for new Freedom Makers who joined our community. We already have a private Facebook page where they are free to start conversations, we thought connecting them with more experienced Freedom Makers would be a good way for them to learn our system in a private and casual setting.

To ensure the program’s success, Erin, our Operations Manager, checks in with both mentors and mentees to ensure communication is happening and it is a good match. Thus far, the program is growing each quarter. The win for Freedom Makers is our virtual assistants are learning from each other and being nurtured at the same time.

Corporate Clients

One goal we have had for a long time at Freedom Makers is to expand our remote working style to larger clients. Most of our clients are solopreneurs or small business owners. Knowing that most of the skills our FMs have can translate to larger businesses, we focused on marketing ourselves as a remote work team that come in and reduce overall administrative costs for larger corporations.

Tasks such as expenses, scheduling, client care or travel arrangements can be done remotely by virtual assistants rather than full time employees. And if a company does not have full time administrative staff, our FMs reduce the burden of these administrative tasks on employees that have other missions. It reduces their stress level and increases their productivity knowing that the lingering tasks of expenses or client care is being taken care of by someone else.

We were able to start a relationship with a large company on the east coast in the food supply industry. Erin led a team of Freedom Makers who performed survey calls to past employees. It was no small undertaking but Erin and the FMs on the team performed the work in record time and exceeded the company’s goal for responses. We have now established a relationship with this company and are in discussions for a new project in early 2021.

Partnerships

2020 brought about many new partners for Freedom Makers. We connected and networked with many like-minded organizations to serve as referral and information sources. We partnered and strengthened our relationship with the following organizations just to name a few:

AMSE (American Military Spouse Entrepreneurs)
US Veterans Business Alliance out of Orange County
Re4ormed
Service Academy Business Mastermind Group

Freedom Maker Success Manager

Another large highlight for 2020 has been adding a new position to our internal team, a Freedom Maker Success Manager. In the past, we have always had the Success Manager who served both clients and Freedom Makers. Wilma would check in on both the clients and the FMs quarterly and handle any issues that might arise.

Through our growth this year, we wanted to focus more on the quality of our FM pool. At Freedom Makers, striving for excellence is a guiding principle so we wanted to add someone who could focus on our FMS to help them succeed and be the best for our clients. We are nothing without them and wanted to start really focusing on their needs.

In 2021, we will roll out consistent monthly training along with specialized communication that helps FMs with their profiles. We expect our military spouse virtual assistants to pour everything into their client and there is no reason we should not do the same for them.

Twinbee!!!

Our biggest achievement without a doubt this year has been the rollout of Twinbee, our client/ Freedom Maker portal that allows FMs to log their hours real time and clients to add more hours and see what their FM is working on. This journey started in 2019 and was long but moved quicker once we found a current FM who was working on her software engineering degree. It turns out she needed a capstone project and this concept fit the bill! Twinbee was born!

Twinbee better serves our clients and our FMs. And in the end it better serves our company. It is the epitome of us striving for excellence as it it eventually led to a big improvement for everyone.

Who knows what 2021 holds. We, at Freedom Makers, believe it will be a great year. We will continue to strive for excellence in all we do. We cannot thank our clients enough for trusting us with their businesses and providing meaningful, remote work for our FMs. And we thank our military spouses who work incredibly hard for their clients and epitomize who Freedom Makers strives to be.

Happy Holidays and we WILL see you in 2021!!!
